New surfaces, buzzing clippers, dryers, water, strangers, and paw handling arrive all at once. A short, well-paced introduction gives the puppy time to process those things without being overwhelmed.
Practice before the appointment
Touch paws, ears, chin, tail, and legs for one or two seconds, then reward.
Let the puppy stand on a rubber mat or folded towel to practice a secure grooming surface.
